Spot SUI ETFs Launch With Staking Feature

Two spot SUI exchange-traded funds began trading Wednesday, giving investors direct token exposure plus staking yield. The dual structure expands institutional access to proof-of-stake income within a regulated ETF wrapper.

Canary Capital listed the Canary Stake SUI ETF under ticker SUIS on Nasdaq. The fund tracks the spot price of SUI and distributes net staking rewards generated through the network’s proof-of-stake mechanism. Grayscale also converted its existing SUI trust into an ETF trading as GSUI on NYSE Arca.

Will Staking ETFs Redefine Token Exposure?

Sui is a Layer 1 blockchain developed primarily by Mysten Labs, with SUI serving as the native token for transaction fees and smart contract execution. The token ranks 31st by market capitalization at approximately $3.7 billion, according to price data. The launch follows a broader wave of crypto ETF approvals, including leveraged products such as the 21Shares 2x SUI ETF.

The introduction of staking inside an ETF structure marks a structural shift from passive price tracking toward yield-bearing exposure.

“The Canary Staked SUI spot ETF (SUIS) brings exposure to SUI in a registered, exchange-traded structure, while also enabling investors to benefit from net staking rewards,” said Steven McClurg, CEO at Canary Capital.

Adeniyi Abiodun, co-founder and CPO of Mysten Labs, called the listing “an important milestone for both institutional and retail access to the Sui ecosystem.”

Dozens of crypto-linked ETFs have launched over the past year, tracking assets such as DOGE, LTC, XRP, and SOL amid a more permissive regulatory climate. Yet spot products that integrate staking mechanics remain relatively rare, raising operational and custody considerations for issuers and regulators alike.

The key variable will be asset gathering and secondary market liquidity in the first weeks of trading. Sustained inflows could test whether yield-enhanced spot ETFs become the template for future Layer 1 token products across U.S. exchanges.
