NFT Paris 2026 Canceled as Prolonged NFT Market Slump Pressures Major Web3 Events

NFT Paris, one of the most prominent annual conferences in the crypto and Web3 calendar, has been canceled just one month before it was set to take place, highlighting the continued strain across the NFT sector.

In a statement posted Monday on X, the organizing team confirmed that NFT Paris 2026 will not go ahead. After four consecutive editions in the French capital, the group cited ongoing market weakness as the primary reason for the decision.

“After four editions bringing together the global Web3 community in Paris, we have to face reality: NFT Paris 2026 will not happen,” the organizers wrote. “The market collapse hit us hard. Despite drastic cost cuts and months of trying to make it work, we couldn’t pull it off this year.”

A reflection of a struggling NFT market

The cancellation comes despite occasional bursts of NFT trading activity in 2025. Overall, the sector has not recovered from its pandemic-era peak. Industry data shows NFT marketplace volumes have fallen by roughly 95% from their 2021 highs, while once blue-chip collections such as Bored Ape Yacht Club and CryptoPunks have seen sharp declines in value.

This slowdown has pushed major players to rethink their strategies. OpenSea, long regarded as a cornerstone of NFT trading, has recently begun repositioning itself as a broader crypto aggregation platform, signaling reduced reliance on NFTs alone.

Against this backdrop, NFT Paris had appeared ambitious. Promotional materials released earlier suggested organizers were expecting around 20,000 attendees, along with hundreds of speakers and a packed schedule of side events.

More than just NFTs

The event was scheduled for February 5–6 at the Grande Halle de la Villette in Paris and was set to host several parallel summits. These included RWA Paris, focused on real-world asset tokenization; Ordinals Paris, centered on Bitcoin-based digital collectibles; and XYZ Paris, which covered topics such as artificial intelligence, DePIN, and broader Web3 innovation.

The sudden cancellation has raised questions beyond the state of the NFT market, though organizers have not pointed to any additional factors behind the decision.

Refunds and sponsor concerns

The NFT Paris team said all ticket holders will receive full refunds within 15 days. General admission tickets were priced at about $231, while VIP passes cost roughly $1,161, according to Coinspeaker.

“We will be doing all we can to close this chapter properly,” the organizers said.

However, the situation appears more complicated for sponsors. Some have indicated they may not be reimbursed. Serc, the artist behind the Silhouettes generative art collection, said sponsors received an email stating that refunds would not be possible due to budget constraints.

According to Serc, the message cited non-refundable costs that exceeded total sponsorship contributions, leaving organizers unable to return funds at this time.
