MetaMask Adds Support for Sei Blockchain, Expanding Multi-Chain Capabilities

MetaMask, one of the most widely used crypto wallets globally, has integrated Sei, a Layer 1 blockchain, further expanding its growing list of supported networks. The move allows its 100+ million users to explore Sei’s ecosystem directly within the wallet—without the hassle of manual setup or third-party tools.

With the new integration, users can now access Sei-based applications, swap tokens, bridge assets, purchase SEI with fiat (via credit cards or Apple Pay), and manage NFTs—all from within MetaMask. A dedicated Sei ecosystem page has also been added to MetaMask Portfolio, showcasing decentralized apps and real-time network activity.

"Expanding MetaMask to support emerging networks like Sei is about solving real problems for users," said Gal Eldar, MetaMask’s global product lead. "Web3 is moving toward a multi-chain reality, and users shouldn’t have to wrestle with different wallets or complex bridges to participate."

Sei’s Growth Fuels Demand

Sei launched its mainnet in 2023 and has seen rapid adoption, especially following the rollout of its Ethereum-compatible Sei V2 chain. The network now handles more than 4.2 million transactions daily and boasts over 11 million monthly active users. It currently holds over $600 million in total value locked (TVL), reflecting growing developer and user interest.

The native SEI token is trading around $0.30, with a market cap of approximately $1.7 billion, ranking it among the top 80 cryptocurrencies by size.

MetaMask’s Multi-Chain Vision

The Sei integration is part of MetaMask’s broader strategy to become a universal hub for onchain activity. While originally focused on Ethereum, the wallet now supports both EVM and non-EVM chains, including Arbitrum, Base, Solana, BNB Chain, and Linea.

Dan Finlay, MetaMask co-founder, recently commented on the possibility of a native MetaMask token. While no formal announcement has been made, Finlay confirmed that if a token ever launches, it would be transparently promoted within the wallet itself.

As MetaMask continues to evolve alongside the broader Web3 landscape, its support for up-and-coming chains like Sei signals a strong commitment to usability, security, and access for the next wave of blockchain users.
