Ripple Donates $25 Million in RLUSD to Support U.S. Classrooms, Boosting Real-World Utility for Stablecoins

Ripple Commits $25M to U.S. Education in Major Stablecoin-Backed Philanthropy Push

In a significant step toward integrating cryptocurrency into real-world impact, Ripple has pledged $25 million—primarily in RLUSD, its newly launched stablecoin—to support U.S. teachers and classrooms. The initiative, timed with Teacher Appreciation Week, is in partnership with educational nonprofits DonorsChoose and Teach For America.

According to Ripple, the contribution will provide much-needed resources to educators facing increasing funding pressures. While the full breakdown of the donation remains unclear, DonorsChoose has acknowledged receiving $10 million, which may represent the fiat portion of the total. The remainder, it appears, will be distributed via RLUSD, Ripple’s stablecoin introduced earlier this year.

“We’re proud to support U.S. teachers and classrooms through Ripple’s $25 million commitment to DonorsChoose and Teach For America,” said Eric van Miltenburg, SVP of Strategic Initiatives at Ripple. “Delivered primarily through RLUSD, it’s a meaningful example of how stablecoins can drive real-world impact—starting in the classroom.”

Beyond Blockchain: A Focus on Core Education Needs

Interestingly, Ripple’s donation isn’t directly tied to blockchain education. Instead, the funds are set to go toward general classroom needs, from books and school supplies to technology. Longer-term, the company and its partners plan to support financial literacy initiatives—a goal that aligns with Ripple’s broader mission, but may depend on continued collaboration and donor interest.

The effort also comes at a time when the crypto industry is navigating increasing regulatory scrutiny. By using RLUSD in a charitable context, Ripple may be showcasing its commitment to transparency and compliance—highlighting the practical, socially responsible applications of stablecoins.

A Growing Track Record of Giving

This isn’t Ripple’s first foray into philanthropy using RLUSD. Earlier this year, the company made a smaller $50,000 donation to support wildfire relief in California. However, the $25 million education pledge marks a significant scaling-up of its efforts.

Crypto and education don’t often intersect in mainstream conversations, but this donation is earning Ripple positive attention—both within and outside the blockchain community. High-profile backers like DonorsChoose, support from public figures like Eli Manning, and media tie-ins with Good Morning America have all amplified the initiative’s visibility.
