Ethereum Foundation Launches dAI Team to Drive AI-Blockchain Integration

The Ethereum Foundation (EF) is taking a strategic step into artificial intelligence with the creation of a new dedicated unit, the dAI Team, aimed at accelerating the development of AI-driven applications and machine economies on the Ethereum network.

Led by core developer Davide Crapis, the team brings together blockchain engineers and AI specialists to position Ethereum as a leading platform for the decentralized AI economy. In an announcement shared on X, Crapis emphasized that the group will work on building a decentralized AI stack while supporting an agentic ecosystem, where AI agents can operate independently without relying on intermediaries.

“We believe Ethereum can be as useful for today’s AI developers as it will be for the sci-fi future,” Crapis noted. “That’s why we’ll work closely with ecosystem projects to accelerate progress and push the boundaries of research and innovation at the intersection of AI and blockchains. Connecting two communities that have too often worked in parallel.”

A broader push for Ethereum’s growth

The move underscores EF’s ongoing role in shaping Ethereum’s long-term evolution. The Switzerland-based non-profit has been instrumental in major milestones, including Ethereum’s historic transition from proof-of-work to proof-of-stake, support for zero-knowledge proofs, and the advancement of layer-2 scaling solutions.

Earlier this year, the foundation restructured its leadership and temporarily paused its open grants program to streamline funding strategies. It also released an updated privacy roadmap, reflecting renewed focus on user protection as blockchain adoption expands globally.

The dAI Team will extend these efforts by not only unlocking AI-related use cases but also by applying artificial intelligence to enhance user experience, developer experience, and security across Ethereum.
