Coinbase Tests Prediction Markets and Tokenized Stocks Inside Its App

Coinbase may be preparing to roll out prediction markets and tokenized stock trading directly within its app, according to new findings uncovered by independent researcher Jane Manchun Wong. The features appear to be part of the company’s broader push to become an “everything exchange,” a strategy it previewed earlier this year.

Wong said that she discovered the new interfaces by reverse-engineering publicly available code from Coinbase’s mobile app. The screenshots she surfaced show tabs labeled “Stocks” and “Predictions,” along with related disclosure text. One note states that prediction markets would be offered through Coinbase Financial Markets in partnership with KalshiEX LLC, hinting at a potential integration with Kalshi, the only federally regulated prediction-market operator in the United States.

The development comes at a time when competition in the prediction-market space is heating up. Polymarket, the largest platform globally by trading volume, has been expanding its U.S. presence. The company recently relaunched a domestic beta after acquiring licensed derivatives venue QCX in July, paving the way for a full return. It has also added partners like PrizePicks and Yahoo Finance as it gears up for wider availability.

Coinbase first outlined its ambition to bring tokenized stocks, early-stage token sales, and prediction markets to U.S. customers in late July. At the time, Max Branzburg, the company’s vice president of product, said the goal was to bring “all assets onchain” through a unified interface.

Asked about the newly uncovered screenshots, a Coinbase spokesperson declined to confirm specific features and instead pointed to the company’s showcase livestream scheduled for December 17. The event was teased earlier in the week as part of a broader “Coinbase System Update” that promises product announcements, business updates, and “lots of other cool stuff.”

As anticipation builds, users will likely have to wait for the December livestream to learn whether these tools will soon become part of the everyday Coinbase experience.
