Bitget Wallet Integrates EIP-7702, Letting Users Pay Ethereum Gas Fees in Stablecoins

Bitget Wallet has rolled out a major update that lets users pay Ethereum gas fees using stablecoins, a move that could make crypto transactions smoother for millions of users.

The update integrates Ethereum Improvement Proposal 7702 (EIP-7702) — a new feature that allows users to cover network fees with tokens like USDT, USDC, or BGB, instead of traditional gas tokens such as ETH. The functionality spans multiple blockchains, including Ethereum, Solana, Base, TRON, Polygon, Arbitrum, BNB Chain, and Optimism, making it one of the most comprehensive multi-chain implementations of its kind.

According to Bitget, this upgrade is part of its broader “gas abstraction” initiative, designed to simplify blockchain interactions. By enabling stablecoin payments for gas, the company aims to make decentralized transactions more accessible to everyday users who may not want to manage native tokens on every network they use.

Why Bind EIP-7702 to Your Wallet?
Unlock smart wallet features with Bitget Wallet’s EIP-7702—pay gas in stablecoins, batch DeFi, and trade faster across chains.

EIP-7702 effectively allows a regular Ethereum account, known as an Externally Owned Account (EOA), to temporarily behave like a smart contract wallet. This gives users advanced capabilities such as batching transactions and delegating gas payments — features that were previously limited to smart contract wallets.

“This brings self-custody closer to the ease of centralized exchanges — users can transact across chains without ever managing gas tokens,” said Jamie Elkaleh, Chief Marketing Officer at Bitget Wallet.

Elkaleh added that the integration supports both EVM and non-EVM blockchains, setting it apart from competitors that offer gas abstraction on a smaller scale or require separate smart account upgrades.

The move positions Bitget Wallet in direct competition with other wallets experimenting with gas abstraction and Paymaster technologies, including MetaMask, OKX Wallet, and Base App.

As the crypto industry continues to push for smoother user experiences, Bitget’s EIP-7702 integration could mark a meaningful step toward bridging the gap between self-custody and mainstream usability — potentially reshaping how users interact with blockchain networks.
