Binance Pay and Lyzi Bring Crypto Payments to 80+ Merchants Across the French Riviera

Cryptocurrency is taking root in one of Europe’s most iconic tourist destinations. Binance Pay, in partnership with French fintech Lyzi, has rolled out crypto payment support across more than 80 businesses in the French Riviera, enabling both locals and tourists to pay with digital assets in cities like Cannes, Nice, Antibes, and Monaco.
Announced in a press release on Wednesday, the initiative aims to integrate crypto into the heart of the Riviera’s luxury-driven economy—spanning hotels, restaurants, beach clubs, wellness centers, and high-end retailers. Visitors can now use stablecoins and other cryptocurrencies to settle bills instantly by scanning a QR code, with no gas fees incurred.
Merchants benefit as well. The system offers real-time euro settlements, removing the volatility typically associated with accepting crypto while maintaining compliance and ease of use.
Cannes Leads Crypto-Friendly Push
The move builds on momentum already underway in Cannes, where local officials have openly supported crypto adoption. Earlier this year, Cannes Mayor David Lisnard called on businesses to embrace digital payments, describing it as a key part of the city’s Web3 strategy.
“We’ll be encouraging and especially training Cannes merchants in the integration of cryptocurrencies for payments,” Lisnard said in a LinkedIn post.
Participating venues now include major hotels such as the JW Marriott and Hotel Gray d’Albion, beach clubs like Palais Stéphanie Beach, luxury boutiques in Monaco like Parker and Smith, and wellness businesses including Palm Gym in Antibes.
Binance France CEO David Princay highlighted the broader significance:
“The adoption of crypto payments in a world-class destination like the French Riviera shows that digital assets are becoming part of everyday life.”
Binance Pay’s platform supports over 100 cryptocurrencies, including euro- and dollar-pegged stablecoins, and offers key security features such as end-to-end encryption, two-factor authentication, and instant confirmations.
Incentives for Shoppers
To kickstart adoption, Binance Pay launched a promotional campaign that runs through this Sunday. Customers making qualifying purchases of at least 20 euros in crypto can earn a 5 EURI reward, a MiCA-regulated stablecoin tied to the euro.
A Global Trend in Crypto Tourism
The French Riviera joins a growing list of regions integrating crypto into tourism infrastructure. In Bhutan, travelers can now pay for hotels and local experiences using crypto through a Binance Pay integration with DK Bank. Similarly, Thailand recently announced plans to allow tourists to spend crypto by linking digital assets to traditional credit cards—automatically converting purchases into Thai baht for merchants.
