Astar’s ASTR Token Becomes First to Integrate with Both Superchain ERC-7802 and Chainlink CCIP

Astar Network has achieved a landmark in blockchain interoperability, becoming the first project to fully integrate its native token, ASTR, with both Optimism’s Superchain ERC-7802 standard and Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP). The dual integration marks a significant step forward for cross-chain functionality in the evolving multi-chain web3 ecosystem.
The development allows ASTR to move seamlessly between Astar’s Polkadot-based Layer 1 on the Soneium blockchain and Ethereum-compatible Superchains, including Base, OP Mainnet, and World Chain. This positions Astar as a pioneer in linking the Polkadot and Ethereum ecosystems—a previously complex challenge due to differing network architectures.
“With just two clicks, users will soon be able to move tokens across multiple Superchains,” the company said, referring to the streamlined user experience promised by Optimism’s Superchain interoperability rollout.
The upgrade dramatically simplifies what has traditionally been a fragmented and technically demanding process for developers and users navigating different blockchain networks.
Through ERC-7802, ASTR supports interoperability within the Superchain ecosystem. Chainlink’s CCIP integration complements this by enabling secure, cross-chain communication powered by its decentralized oracle infrastructure. When users transfer ASTR between chains, Chainlink’s oracle network first verifies the transaction, then relays the necessary data to complete a mirrored mint or burn on the destination network.
This is further reinforced by CrosschainMint and CrosschainBurn functionalities, ensuring secure token management. Only Chainlink-verified contracts can execute these functions, thanks to role-based access control.
“This integration makes ASTR more than just a native token—it’s evolving into a universal utility token for the decentralized economy,” said Maarten Henskens, Head of the Astar Foundation. “From DeFi and gaming to the creative sector, ASTR is being built to support innovation wherever it happens.”
The collaboration reflects Astar’s mission to become a truly multi-chain asset, bridging infrastructure gaps across the broader web3 landscape. It also illustrates a growing trend in the blockchain industry: shifting away from isolated networks toward seamless, secure interoperability that benefits both developers and end-users.
