Anthropic is launching an enterprise marketplace with a 0% commission. The shift turns Claude from a model contract into a software checkout lane, as defense-linked work faces fresh uncertainty. By bundling partner apps into Anthropic billing, the company is trying to keep annual commitments sticky and reduce procurement friction for customers.
Anthropic said Friday that Anthropic Marketplace will let corporate customers buy third-party applications built on its models, including services from Snowflake, Harvey and Replit. Customers can apply some committed annual spending on Anthropic services toward those tools, rather than opening vendor contracts. Anthropic said it will not take a cut. The Defense Department has labeled the company a supply-chain risk.

AI labs are adding commerce layers to keep enterprise spend in-house. Amazon Web Services’ Marketplace charges 1.5%–3% on many private offers, and Microsoft Marketplace lists a 3% store service fee. Anthropic is offering a zero-fee lane tied to its spend commitments. Will partners accept that trade for distribution and faster procurement?
Kate Jensen, Anthropic’s head of Americas, said most customers should see little change. “The good news here is, for the most part, we expect that it will be business as usual for the vast majority of our customers,” she said. She added that companies with Pentagon exposure still face uncertainty about how the designation will be applied.
Chief Executive Officer Dario Amodei has said government restrictions are narrow enough to avoid spillover into business unrelated to specific Pentagon contracts. Microsoft said it can keep working with Anthropic on non-defense projects. Yet the supply-chain label can ripple through contractor relationships, because firms may need to swap vendors or rewrite compliance playbooks on short notice.
The marketplace also gives buyers a release valve for unused spend. Enterprises can redirect part of a Claude commitment to partner tools and keep procurement under one invoice. But defense contractors now face an extra screen when choosing model providers. Next catalyst is whether Anthropic’s legal challenge changes the designation before Marketplace broadens its catalog.
